CAMP 2010 AT YELAGIRI MAY 27th – 30th
The 3rd annual camp was held at Yelagiri Hills, a mini hill station about 250 km from Chennai. The theme for this camp was shiai kumite, shite katas, rules and regulations, judging and refereeing, terminology etc.
The camp was conducted at the Don Bosco camp site and attended by about 30 participants.
The camp was inaugurated on May 27th by Fr. Stalin administrator of Don Bosco Idayadeepam.The first session commenced at 10 a.m and continued upto lunch at 1 p.m. The second session commenced at 3.30 p.m. and concluded at 8 p.m. with a short break at 5 p.m. The second day onwards training started from 6.30 a.m. and maintained schedule. A power point presentation was made by Sensei Manuel Thomas regarding the rules and regulations of shiai and judging and explained by Sensei Ranga Rao and also a martial arts movie was screened.
The participants were very enthusiastic in learning the nuances of sport karate and the mock tournament conducted to give the participants a feel of taking part in a tournament.
On the final day, an impressive demonstration was given in honour of the Chief Guest Fr.Jerome, Rector of Don Bosco Idayadeepam and Guests of Honour Fr. Rafael, Fr. Arulanandam also of Don Bosco and Mr. Alex Jacob a renowned structural engineer from Chennai.
The camp was conducted by Shiandai Anand Mohan assisted by Sensei Bruce Robson, Sensei Manuel Thomas, Sensei Ranga Rao and Sensei Davis Thomas. |
